Summer has always been my favorite season when it comes to fashion. This year, there are a few summer outfit trends that I am more excited about than others. As news came that we would be able to venture out of our houses soon, I started playing dress up in my closet. I was daydreaming of wearing cute summer outfits and heading to dinners, concerts, happy hour, and BBQs. I quickly realized that there was one brand that I was finding most of my summer wardrobe staples: Free People.
If you ask my family, they’ll tell you I’ve been a Free People addict for… ever. This year did not disappoint or break that trend. So, I’m sharing my favorite Free People summer looks and highlighting the staples I can’t get enough of. Even if I won’t be able to venture out of my home.

Dreamy Puff Sleeves
I adore the puff sleeve look. It’s been a growing trend over the past few years and one that is here to stay in Summer 2020.
This look is incredible because it’s feminine yet bold. You can pull it off with many different styles: boho, preppy, or edgy. Honestly, I’ve seen it done well so many times.
I also love that it adds some unique structure to dresses or tops. This dress, in particular, is a must-have. Perfect for date night, dreamy picnics, or Sunday brunch. I’m in love.

Power (Body)suits
Similar to the puff sleeve, bodysuits have been on the up and up for a few years now. They can be form fitting or flowy. You can layer them under blazers for work or show a little skin with a deep V on a night out.
The only downside is when you have to hit up the ladies room. But, we’ll let that one slide since bodysuits are so cute.
I love that you never have to fidget with your top when you’ve got on a bodysuit. You just look put together and as if you are tres chic.
This is one of my favorites because it makes me feel good in my skin. I love pairing it with high waisted jeans and a belt.

Wear Everywhere Denim Jackets
Will denim jackets ever fully go out of style? I truly don’t think so.
With the raging summer heat and humidity in NC comes blasting air conditioning in restaurants and stores. That’s why it’s always a good idea to have a jacket to throw over little dresses or tank tops.
A denim jacket is ideal because it adds enough warmth but doesn’t take away from your outfit. You look stylish yet classic. I’ve been loving this black denim jacket to give a little twist to the classic look
Summer Outfit Shopping Tips

When shopping for summer outfits, I’ve been trying to find things that I can transfer easily into other seasons. I know that this season I’ll be doing much less socializing and I’ll be wearing a lot more lounge clothes than usual. So, I’m investing in pieces that I truly love and feel I can wear for other seasons and years to come.
One final summer outfit staple that I must mention are flowy, bohemian maxi-dresses. I can never get enough and nobody does it quite like Free People. I’m including some of my favorites in the shopping guide below!
