Watermelon Margarita, anyone? Aside from coffee and wine, margaritas are one of my favorite drinks. When the weather gets warms, I want a margarita in my hand. This fresh watermelon margarita is the ideal drink to whip up for taco Tuesday, Cinco de Mayo, or just any ole Sunday morning. No? Ok, maybe not a Sunday brunch drink, but if you so choose… I’m not judging!
For this cocktail, I recommend adding the Crude Bitters that are in the recipe. It’s a local bittery to Raleigh, NC and I’ve fallen in love with their product. The “Lindsay” is a mixture of pecan, magnolia, and habanero – perfect for a margarita. It adds that little extra touch, ya know? I use Sauza tequila for this drink, but any tequila blanco of your choice will work! To make it easier, I also recommend my favorite citrus juicer and blender.
Please, whatever you do, don’t use any of those packaged mixes when it comes to being the marg bartender. This drink is full of fresh squeezed limes and freshly “juiced” watermelon. Basically, that makes it healthy, right?
Although it’s light and refreshing, this one packs a punch with 3 shots so be sure to keep that in mind when you throw a few back. It’s easy to down this pretty quickly considering the taste. I may or may not have gotten a little tipsy in my house alone when I made these over the weekend.
This Cinco de Mayo, I plan to pour myself one of these and lay back in my comfiest quarantine loungewear.
Enjoy and let me know your thoughts below if you make one! x

Refreshing Watermelon Margarita
Equipment
- Blender or Juicer
Ingredients
- 1 cup watermelon chunks seeds removed
- 3 oz lime juice fresh squeezes
- 3 oz silver tequila I used Sauza
- 2 oz cointreau
- 0.5 oz agave
- coconut sugar to rim glass
- 1 handful ice cubes
- Crude Bitters "Lindsay" optional
Instructions
- Place watermelon chunks into a blender and run until smooth (can also use a juicer for this step)
- Strain watermelon juice. You'll need at least 3 ounces of juice, so if your watermelon did not yield enough, add more
- rim your glass with sugar or salt (I use coconut sugar) & fill with ice
- add 3 ounces of watermelon juice to glass
- add 2 ounces of lime juice to glass
- add 2 ounces of silver tequila to glass
- add 1 ounce of cointreau to glass
- add 0.5 ounce of agave nectar
- stir to combine (or place in a cocktail shaker)
- top with a few drops of Crude Bitters "Lindsay" bitters
- garnish with a lime slice
- Enjoy! (Responsibly, of course)

Ok YUM! This looks so refreshing!
It is the perfect drink for a hot day!
